About Brian

Even after 30 years of painting in the most difficult of mediums, Brian still remains passionate about painting in his chosen medium of watercolour and strives continually for perfection in his work.

Knowledge and observation are essential elements of his working practice and to achieve this he spends a large portion of his time painting on location.
Brian was born in Nelson New Zealand in 1947. In1977 he emigrated to Australia and now lives in the beautiful township of McLaren Vale on the Fleurieu Peninsula 40 kms south of Adelaide South Australia, where he has a studio-gallery.
Brian’s passion for painting began as a teenager and during his early years of painting he had guidance from some of New Zealand’s and Australia’s leading exponents in watercolour techniques.

Brian’s unique style of art has been published in the Australian Artist magazine many times. His first solo exhibition was in 1983 and he has enjoyed numerous successful one man exhibitions in South Australia, Queensland and New Zealand His work hangs in may private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas.

Brian has won numerous art prizes including the coveted Heysen Prize.
